Boys Basketball

Rowland Hall's boys basketball program provides players with opportunities to excel both on and off the court.

On the court, we are competitive in our division: we've won numerous division championships and made several long runs in the state tournament. In addition to growing players' technical skills, our coaching staff teaches important values that transcend the game of basketball, such as teamwork, resilience, and dedication, which help students grow as people.

Off the court, our graduates rave about how much Rowland Hall's basketball program meant to them—and how it helped them prepare for life after graduation. Our coaches instill a sense of community within our team that extends beyond basketball; they teach students how to be good people and good citizens who will go on to make an impact in their communities.

Basketball is more than a game, and our team is more than a group of players; they're a family, a pride of Winged Lions.

Meet the Coach

Head coach Zack Alvidrez has had an impressive basketball career. He played for Northwest College and Mayville State, where he competed in the 2007 NCIA championship game, before professionally playing for seven years in Mexico. Zack has been Rowland Hall's head coach since 2016 and has led the Winged Lions to four region championships. In 2022, he took on the additional role of assistant director of athletics.

Meet Our Alums

Rowland Hall has seen many alums go on to play basketball at the next level—including three players from the same graduating class (1997)! These individuals serve as a testament to the school's commitment to fostering talent and providing students with the tools they need to succeed.

Winged Lion Legacy

Rowland Hall boys basketball teams have been a dominant force through the years. Since the sport's introduction at St. Mark's Grammar School in 1956 to today—when a whopping 56 percent of our Middle School boys chose to play the sport during the 2022 season—basketball has been a staple of Rowland Hall's athletic program.
