Swimming
On the surface, it might seem like swimming is a simple sport. You just jump in the pool and swim—right? But those who know better know that swimming is one of the most challenging and demanding sports in the world.
Rowland Hall's swim team is an education-based athletic program, committed to excellence and the development of ethics and character. Swimmers demonstrate 100 percent commitment to the team by cheering on and supporting their teammates—even when they're competing against them. The swim team competes in 3A Region XV, meaning they face larger schools and tougher competition than our other 2A sports. But that doesn't stop them from being competitive and finding success.
Nicknamed the "Finned" Lions, Rowland Hall's swimmers show their dedication to success by maintaining a strong academic record alongside their athletic prowess. In order to be successful in the pool, swimmers put in as much hard work as they hope to get out of it. Coaching staff push students to be their best, teaching them valuable life lessons that translate beyond swimming.
Meet the Coaches
Rowland Hall swimming is head coached by Nick Skorut and Claire Jackson, both of whom bring extensive swimming knowledge and experience to the team. Together, they design and administer a season plan that maximizes team preparation and competitiveness.
Meet Our Alums
Rowland Hall has graduated nearly a dozen swimmers who have gone on to compete at schools including the George Washington University, University of Southern California, University of Hawaii, and Stanford University. One alum even followed her collegiate success by returning to coach at Rowland Hall.

Winged Lion Legacy
Swimming at Rowland Hall has been around for over a century—in fact, swim lessons in the school's indoor pool were a required course as early as the 1920s. Rowland Hall's first competitive interscholastic swim team was formed during the 1994–1995 season, and in no time, the team was a force to be reckoned with; at the time, one rival school's coach even stated, "In a very few years, Rowland Hall-St. Mark’s will have one of the best swimming teams in the state, at any level!"
