One of the things that sets Rowland Hall's track & field team apart is a focus on teamwork and sportsmanship. The team encourages athletes to support one another, whether by cheering on a teammate during a race or offering encouragement and advice during practice. The team consistently performs well at meets, with many athletes earning individual accolades and awards. However, the team's focus is not just on winning, but on personal growth and development. The coaches and staff work with each athlete to help them reach their full potential and achieve their goals.
Meet the Coach
Head coach Mark Oftedal has been running for as long as he can remember, from racing alongside boxcars in elementary school to pacing tracks in college. In 1996, he began his coaching career, and he became Rowland Hall's head coach in 2007. Since then, he's led his cross country teams to five state and 21 region championships. Today, Coach Oftedal teaches wellness in addition to coaching cross country and track & field
