2021–2022 Senior Athlete Awards

A number of Winged Lion athletes were recognized at the recent Senior Celebration with special awards by the Athletics Department for their contributions to our programs over the past four years.

The Outstanding Senior Athlete award is based on an athlete’s entire high school athletic career, and goes to athletes who our coaching staff believe have demonstrated a high level of athletic ability, and who also displayed commitment and self-motivation, as well as positive leadership, sportsmanship, coachability, and strong support of their teammates. This year’s Outstanding Senior Athlete recipients were Micha Nenbee (soccer and basketball) and Lorenzo Parker Pillow (cross country, basketball, and soccer).

The Lee Scholar-Athlete award is a gift of the S. Whitfield Lee Family and is awarded to seniors who have excelled academically and athletically, and who have demonstrated leadership in competitive team sports. Grace Baranko (soccer and basketball) and Kaitlyn Bates (soccer and basketball) were recognized with this award.

The Lionhearted Award for Athletics goes to senior athletes who our coaching staff felt were fully committed, who stepped into practices and competition with the heart of a lion day in and day out during their athletic careers, and who not only excelled in their sports, but were coachable and always modeled a team-first attitude and strong work ethic. This year’s recipients of this recognition were Sam Andrew (basketball and soccer), Briggs Ballard (basketball), Summer Connery (soccer), Paris Everett (basketball), Maddie Frazier (tennis), Camryn Kennedy (soccer), Isabelle Louis (swimming), Casey Maloy (volleyball), Daniel McNally (tennis), Luke Muhlestein (soccer and basketball), Enna Mustajbegovic (volleyball), Mercer Paradise (golf), Ana Rodriguez (cross country, basketball, and golf), Jezzie Sammons (softball), Tennyson Seethaler (tennis), and Ozzie Smith (basketball).

Congratulations to these seniors and to all seniors who competed for the green and white these past four years, as they have helped lead their teams to 26 region and eight state titles, and have led our athletics program to top-five finishes in the Deseret News All-Sports awards each year of their careers. Many have earned All-Region and/or All-State honors and many received recognition as Academic All-Region and/or Academic All-State athletes. You leave a legacy of excellence, and you will be very missed!
