Each sports season, the Region 17 Board of Managers bestows Academic All-Region honors to those seniors who meet award criteria: a regular starter or performer on the varsity team and at least a 3.75 cumulative, non-weighted GPA. Six Rowland Hall winter sports athletes were so recognized: girls basketball players Amelie Corson and Heidi Paisley; boys basketball players Kai Dowdle and Jaiden Handlon; and swimmers Maggie Estabrooks and Liam Boyle.
The Utah High School Activities Association (UHSAA) also recognizes excellence in the classroom with the designation of Academic All-State, awarded to senior student-athletes who are regular starters or performers for their varsity teams and who have a non-weighted, cumulative GPA of 4.0, or who meet a new index the UHSAA has developed based on GPA and SAT or ACT scores. Three of our winter sports student-athletes earned that award: Amelie Corson and Heidi Paisley, girls basketball; and Jaiden Handlon, boys basketball.
Congratulations to these Winged Lions on achieving excellence not only in the competitive athletics arena, but also in the classroom!
