It was another great year for Rowland Hall boys golf! The Winged Lions became back-to-back region champions, with ninth grader Hudson Darmstandler taking the top medalist award, and junior Jax Salinas placing third at the Utah High School Activities Association (UHSAA) 2A Region 17 tournament.
The most impressive parts of this season were the strong play of the younger players and a supportive team that really built each other up at every opportunity. The Rowland Hall boys golf program was led by senior captain Sam Bateman and junior captains Jax Salinas and Madsen Varner. This trio really showed what it meant to be a leader and captain, on and off the course.
The 2024 UHSAA 2A state tournament provided a very competitive field, and although it wasn’t the desired outcome, the team made the cut while battling back into a top four placement as a team, with ninth grader Hudson Darmstandler earning a fourth-place individual finish. This was without a doubt a special season with an incredible group of young men.
A huge thank you goes out to seniors Sam Bateman and Miles Krakovitz for their commitment to the program and for their guidance of the younger members of the team, who will be the building blocks for a big season next year.
