The Winged Lions girls basketball team experienced a significant improvement in offensive production this season, doubling their win total from the previous year. Key moments included Mina Bailey’s season-high 21 points against West Valley APA; Frances Hodson’s standout performance against Gunnison, where she scored 18 points, including five three-pointers; and Lily Jaffe’s 19-point showing from the post in a win over UMA-Camp William.
Mina Bailey provided a consistent spark on offense, averaging nine points per game for the year.
Team captains Frances Hodson and Kavitha Kasturi were both honored with All-Academic awards, showcasing their dedication both on and off the court.
At the basketball banquet, Frances Hodson was voted MVP for her exceptional contributions, while Mina Bailey earned the Rookie of the Year award for her impressive first season.
Although we will be losing five seniors this year, each of whom played a pivotal role in our success, we are confident in the ability of our talented and eager sophomore and freshman classes to step in and fill those crucial positions. These younger players have shown tremendous potential and dedication, and we are excited to see how they develop and contribute to the team’s success in the coming seasons. With their fresh energy and drive, we believe the future remains bright, and they are more than ready to take on the challenges ahead.
