Each year, the Utah High School Activities Association (UHSAA) recognizes one coach at each Utah high school as a Gold Star Coach, an outstanding coach who serves as a mentor for the athletes they work with, and who not only teaches the skills and strategy of their sport but also focuses on modeling positive behavior both on and off the competitive arena. They look for a coach who also inspires students to strive for success in all aspects of their lives by demonstrating through their example how to work hard, be self-disciplined, be a leader, and serve others.

We are pleased and proud to announce that our longtime Head Softball Coach and Assistant Volleyball Coach Kathy Howa, who has had a positive impact and influence on many lives during her 30-year coaching career at Rowland Hall, was recently honored by the UHSAA with this well-deserved award.
