Spring Sports Academic Awards 2023

Each sports season, the Region 17 Board of Managers recognizes with Academic All-Region honors those seniors who meet the award criteria of being a regular starter or performer on a varsity team and having at least a 3.75 cumulative, non-weighted GPA. Fourteen spring sport athletes were so recognized: Katerina Gianoulis, Arden Louchheim, and Angel Wang, girls golf; Joe Fenton, Charlie Frech, and Jack Vitek, boys soccer; Deja Shirkey, softball; Luca Bressloff, Jaiden Handlon, and Zach Klein, boys tennis; and Will Cunningham, Evan Jahn, Annie Nash, and Ezra Shilling Rabin, track and field.

The Utah High School Activities Association (UHSAA) also recognizes excellence in the classroom with the designation of Academic All-State status, awarded to senior student-athletes who are regular starters or performers for their varsity teams and who have a non-weighted, cumulative GPA of 4.0, or who meet a new index that they have developed based on GPA and SAT or ACT scores. Eleven of our spring sports student-athletes earned that award: Arden Louchheim and Angel Wang, girls golf; Joe Fenton, Charlie Frech, and Jack Vitek, boys soccer; Deja Shirkey, softball; Luca Bressloff, Jaiden Handlon, and Zach Klein, boys tennis; and Evan Jahn and Ezra Shilling Rabin, track and field.

Congratulations to these Winged Lions on achieving excellence not only in the competitive athletics arena, but also in the classroom!
